Fridge Alert

A mobile app that allows users to organize their fridge by keeping track of perishable food and reminding them to consume it before expiration

SKILLS: Needfinding, Prototyping, Heuristic evaluation, Usability testing
TOOLS: Balsamiq mockups, Justinmind prototyper

Need Finding

I observed that people tend to forget to consume the food in their fridge on time, and the food goes to waste.
I came up with two different solutions to address this problem.

First Solution

The first design focused on improving the arrangement of food items in the fridge.

Second Solution

The second design revolved around keeping track of food items and reminding users about the status of their perishable food.

Paper Prototype

I made a paper prototype based on the second concept to quickly test some design ideas.

Low-fidelity Prototype

I came up with two different approaches for organizing the information, and created two versions of low-fidelity prototype using Balsamiq.

High-fidelity Prototype

In the final iteration, I combined certain components of the two previous low-fidelity prototypes using Justinmind prototyping tool. This version provides the users with two different views of their fridge:

i) Quick Glance; that somewhat resembles the layout of a real fridge,
ii) Detailed View; that provides more information and is easier to edit.I came up with two different approaches for organizing the information, and created two versions of low-fidelity prototype using Balsamiq.
